ENTRY FORMALITIES FOR SINGAPORE AND BRUNEI RESIDENTS*

* by resident is meant a person holding permanent resident status,
employment pass, dependent pass or long term social visit pass.

A - GENERAL INFORMATION

Persons applying for a Schengen Visa must be in posses of a valid International Passport.
The Schengen visa is issued to travel to the Countries of the European Union that have signed the Schengen Agreement, namely: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the Nordic Countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden).
Visa forms are available from the Embassy of Italy during the opening hours to the public.
Visa fees start from S$70.00, depending on type of visa. (Please enquire at the visa counter).
Processing time of visas takes between four to ten working days depending on the nationality of applicants and authorisation from the Central Authorities in Europe. Copies of passport - ID card and flight booking are required.

PASSPORTS AND RE-ENTRY PERMITS MUST HAVE A THREE MONTHS VALIDITY AFTER EXPIRY OF VISA.

FOR ALL TYPES OF VISA Health insurance covering all the duration of stay in THE schengen countrIES is compulsory.

Please enquire at visa counter for all kind of visa and provide a set of PHOTOcopIES of all documents accompanying the visa application.

Application/collection of visa has to be made in person.
Application and collection by courier or by mail is NOT entertained.
Aliens are allowed to enter and remain in Italy for the number of days stated on the visa. The Border Police has the right to refuse entry for any person(s) entering a Schengen State if a sum of at least US$50 (fifty) per person, for each day of stay, is not produced when requested for viewing (Law n. 286 dated 25.07.1998, art. 4,3 and Ministry of Home Affairs Legislative Decree, dated 01.03.2000 and published on the G.U. no. 64 dated 17.03.2000).

 


B - TOURIST VISA - REQUIREMENTS

1. An Alien is required to have Permanent Resident status or be on an Employment or Dependant pass in the Republic of Singapore or Brunei. 

2. One passport size photograph together with one visa application form duly completed is to be presented at visa counter - Consular Section.

3. A flight itinerary can be produced in order to apply for visa, but a confirmed return ticket MUST be shown on collection of visa.

4. Statement of personal bank account to be produced.

5. A letter of guarantee from the applicant's firm stating that the applicant is working for the company, status of employment and the continuation of employment on return to Singapore or Brunei.

6. Persons joining tour groups or organised tours are required to present a letter from the travel agency with the tour programme or travel itinerary and requirements as per above.
 

For INDIVIDUAL TOURIST VISA:

1,2,3,4,5 as above

6. Hotel booking or confirmed hotel vouchers or declaration of responsibility for his/her guest from the party in Italy with whom the applicant intends to lodge, legalized by the Italian Authority. The host must mention his full name, date and place of birth and the address in Italy.
 

TOURIST VISA FOR STUDENTS – REQUIREMENTS  

  1. Students studying in Singapore or Brunei  wishing to travel to Italy for tourism MUST have a valid student pass or hold Permanent Resident Status valid for at least six months on return to Singapore or Brunei;

  2. One passport size photograph together with one visa application form duly completed is to be presented at visa counter – Consular Section together with the following:

 

TOURIST VISA FOR MINORS - REQUIREMENTS

  1. Students who have not attained the age of 21 years old are considered minors. The se students who wish to travel to Italy for tourism MUST have a valid student pass or hold permanent resident status for at least six months on return to Singapore or Brunei.

  2. One passport size photograph together with one visa application form duly completed is to be presented at visa counter – Consular Section with the following:

 


C - BUSINESS VISA - REQUIREMENTS

1. An Alien is required to have Permanent Resident status or be on an Employment or Dependant pass in the Republic of Singapore or Brunei. Said permits MUST be valid for at least SIX MONTHS from the date of visa application.

2. One passport size photograph together with one visa application form duly completed is to be presented at visa counter - Consular Section.

3. A confirmed return ticket MUST be shown on application of visa.

4. Statement of personal bank account to be produced or Credit Card to be viewed by Consular Officer.

5. A letter of guarantee from the applicant's firm stating the reason of the visit to Italy, status of employment, duration of stay and who is responsible for all expenses to be incurred by the applicant when in Italy and the continuation of employment on return to Singapore or Brunei and also stating as per clause  6c.

6. A letter of invitation from the Italian Company, in the Italian language, addressed and faxed directly to this Embassy, whereby the following is stated:

a) reasons for the visit;
b) duration of stay;
c) formal "Statement of Responsibity" wherein the Company affirms that it is mindful of the Law and of the responsibilities it assumes to aiding and abetting) of the violation of Immigration Laws by the person(s) concerned: "di essere a conoscenza delle responsabilita' di natura penale che si assume (favoreggiamento) qualora lo straniero da lui garantito violi la normativa sull'immigrazione".

7. Registration of the Italian Company with the Chamber of Commerce in Italy. This can be faxed to this Embassy directly at (+65) 62587237 - 62533301.
 

 

D - STUDENT VISA - REQUIREMENTS

Students who wish to continue tertiary education in Italy are required to  have a  valid  dependent/student pass in Singapore or Brunei or hold Permanent  Resident Status. This must be valid for at least six months on their return to Singapore or Brunei.
One passport size photograph, together with one visa application form duly completed is to be presented at visa counter – Consular Section, together with the following:

 a.      A letter of acceptance from the University or School in Italy stating that the applicant will be pursuing his/her studies with them.

b.      Receipt from the University showing that payment has been made for the course to be pursued.

c.      Undertaking to purchase a medical insurance in Italy recommended by the University.

d.      A letter from the University stating where the student will be lodging for the period of stay in Italy.

e.      Statement of personal bank account of the parent to confirm the financial capabilities of the applicant to be able to travel and study in Italy.

f.        Return air ticket to Singapore confirming return trip to Singapore or Brunei. If it is not possible to confirm the return trip to Singapore or Brunei, the return sector can be left open.

g.      If the student is a minor (students under 21 years of age in Singapore or Brunei are considered minors), a letter of authorization from the parent clearly stating that the student is allowed to continue his/her tertiary education in Italy.

 

E - VISA FOR DOMESTIC HELPER - REQUIREMENTS

LIST OF DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR A VISA APPLICATION FOR A DOMESTIC HELPER ACCOMPANYING HER / HIS EMPLOYER/S ON A SHORT STAY VISIT OF A SCHENGEN COUNTRY (since April 27, 1999).

General Information: 

Requirements

One passport size photograph together with one visa application form duly completed is to be presented at the visa counter together with the following: 

a  - Passport.

b
-  Reservations for a return ticket specifying the dates of departure and return to Singapore. Actual ticket to be shown when collecting the visa together with the ticket of the Employer.

IMPORTANT:  departure  and  return  must  coincide with those of the Employer’s ticket.

c -  Proof that the Domestic Helper has been employed by the Employer for at  least 6 (six)  months (Work permit).

d - Health insurance to cover the stay in the Schengen States.

e -  Letter of the Employer’ s Company stating that he / she will still be employed by the Company in Singapore after his/her return from the Schengen Territory.

f - Responsibility letter (Letter of Guarantee) to be signed by the Employer at the moment of Domestic Helper’s application for a  visa.  The Domestic Helper has to sign the Letter of Guarantee, latest 7 (seven) days after her return to Singapore.
Form and Letter of Guarantee are available at this Embassy.

 

E - NOTE

Please note that for:

Indonesian passport: 15 days are required for the visa to be issued.

Philippino passport: 12 days are required for the visa to be issued.

There are particular regulations for issuance of visa to Italy for:

- Persons intending to undertake employment or training;
- seamen;
- students;
- transit;
- airport transit.
